Our June Travel Report by Sara Kramer, Ker & Downey’s Director of Marketing
June travel has really picked up! We are also seeing more and more people plan their vacations for holiday travel. We have some amazing opportunities for travel to Botswana, Egypt, and the Galapagos in December. Keep an eye on your inbox for more info.
Overall, June travel requests have been coming in for places all over the world. It feels like we are receiving the most varied requests that we’ve ever had. Egypt, Croatia, Kenya, Iceland, Ecuador, and Rwanda continue to be our most requested destinations. It is also encouraging to see countries that are lesser known zoom right to the top of travelers “travel now” lists. It is clear people are ready to get back to traveling!
Europe
Some big June travel news came out this month. After a 15-month travel ban, the European Union will now allow Americans to travel there. This includes Italy! As of June 21st, one of the hottest summer travel destinations for Americans is now open without having to quarantine or take a COVID-free flight, as it falls under the requirement of the EU’s Green Certificate. If you can provide proof of vaccination, a certificate of recovery from COVID-19 or a negative PCR or rapid-antigen test taken within 48 hours of arrival, you will be able to enter Italy without having to quarantine. There is still a lot of movement with restrictions in many European countries. But we think this a big win for those eager to see the world again!
South Africa & Zambia
Ker & Downey President, David Marek, and ten of his friends returned from Zambia and South Africa this month. Two years in the making, the trip was one for the records. This group experienced 12 magical June travel days in the Zambian bush, Victoria Falls area, and the South African coast. Be on the lookout for more on their trip in the coming weeks. But the reviews are in: all 11 guests want to return to Africa—Botswana specifically—as soon as possible. The biggest theme throughout the trip was how easy travel was because everything was handled for them. COVID testing in their rooms, skipping to the front of the line at airports, and private assistance everywhere really made a difference during this new and different season of travel.
June Travel to the Galapagos
Ker & Downey Destination Specialist Trista Gage also returned from her trip to the Galapagos with her family this month. Of her time there she said, “Visiting the Galapagos and Ecuador is the perfect family trip! The diversity of experiences kept us all in daily wonder—seeing monkeys in the trees outside our cabin in the Amazon, reconnecting with the unique wildlife of the Galapagos, and enjoying the beauty of Ecuador. It was a once in a lifetime experience to share with my daughter!” We can’t wait to share more of her June travels in the Galapagos in the coming weeks on our social channels. Be on the look out!
Lastly, we want to thank our travelers. Many are traveling right now and are taking trips that were postponed from 2020. While June travel does look different, those who are doing it will receive an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience. We are grateful for the support, always.
