As we reflect on the past year, we have identified several travel trends poised for further growth in 2024. Explore the destinations our clients visited and find out which places should make it onto your travel itinerary in the year ahead. 

2023 Year in Review

Based on where our clients traveled in 2023, we saw Africa as a popular choice for travel, but Southern Europe -- especially Italy -- was close behind. Latin America also gained some momentum in 2023, with Patagonia and Costa Rica seeing increased interest.

Zambia: Our Destination of the Year 

Zambia was our 2023 Destination of the Year because it’s everything we love about a luxury travel experience. It is under the radar, but up-and-coming. Zambia is unique with its chance to see incredible animals, along with luxury safari properties and excellent guides. Ker & Downey President David Marek is heading back to Zambia with another small group in 2024. 

Your Trips Gave Back

This year, Ker & Downey donated more than $50,000 to our charity partners. For every trip booked, we gave to our local charity partners. We also added a new charity partner to our portfolio of philanthropies. The BrookeUSA Foundation works to improve the welfare of workings horses, donkeys, and mules and the people who depend on them for survival worldwide.

Looking Ahead: Travel Trends in 2024 

In 2024, we will continue to see travelers head to Europe. However, instead of Italy -- which was a major travel destination in 2023 -- Croatia, the Azores, and Portugal will pique the interest of travelers wanting something other than the typical tourist route. In Latin America, we will see the grand return of luxury travel to Peru as well as experiential escapes to Cuba. African safaris will remain popular, and Australia, Japan, and Southeast Asia will regain their status as top travel destinations by 2024. 

From the Rhine to the Amazon, river cruising will see a big rebound. Additionally, family yachting in the Adriatic and the Galapagos will trend among leisure travelers who want to share their travel experiences with loved ones.
