Whether it is planting trees in the Grootbos Private Nature Reserve in South Africa or helping orphans in Uganda, at Ker & Downey, we believe in giving back to both the local and international community. Two local philanthropic events we are pleased to be a part of are taking place stateside this Saturday. This is the second of the two posts about Ker & Downey’s local philanthropic efforts.
In the last two years, J.J. Watt has made quite the name for himself as a defensive end on the Houston Texans. His motto of “dream big, work hard” is applicable to the work he does both on and off the field, and it is what has inspired Ker & Downey to partner with the Justin J. Watt Foundation for its inaugural J.J. Watt Charity Classic Softball Game as the Home Run Derby sponsor.
The event takes place on Saturday, April 27 at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas. Festivities start at noon with the Home Run Derby, followed by the softball game. Players from the offensive and defensive lines of the Houston Texans will participate in the seven-inning game.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Justin J. Watt Foundation, which provides after school programs for Wisconsin and Houston area community children to participate in after school athletic activities, keeping them off of the streets, while teaching them teamwork, leadership, and accountability in a monitored environment.
Update: The event was a huge success, raising $300,000 for charity. To see a video recap of the event, click the link below. Thanks to the Houston Texans for the film.
