Each year during Fashion Week, the GenArt Fresh Faces in Fashion showcases the collections of aspiring designers in their first runway shows – shows that skyrocketed the careers of designers like Rodarte, Vena Cava, Zac Posen, and Phillip Lim. Launching in May, the GenArt Global program sought to bring designers from around the world to Fashion Week spotlight via sponsorships, and Ker & Downey was proud to sponsor rising star Katungulu Mwendwa in her New York Fashion Week debut. Hair product leader Moroccanoil worked closely with the designers to create their runway hairstyle looks, and Vice President David Jones was live from New York, rubbing elbows with designers, musicians, and actors, including America’s Next Top Model alumni and Twilight stars Christian Serratos and Chaske Spencer.
Ker & Downey will also sponsor Nike Kondakis, a Kenya-based Dane, in her debut at LA Fashion Week. Kondakis’ eco-friendly designs include jewelry made from petrified wood and gorgeous gowns crafted from old parachutes. Kondakis will present her collection on the runway in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 17.
We wish Kat and Nike the best of luck! Check out our Facebook gallery featuring some of Kat & Nike’s runway looks.
