The options of what to see in the Middle East 2020 are endless. The region is brimming with history, culture, and lots of interesting activities perfect for travelers seeking a mix of the modern and ancient past. Whether its the forward-moving cities you are seeking, delicious food, or outdoor adventure, Ker & Downey can help you handcraft a Middle Eastern experience that suits all your needs.
Here are just some of our suggestions for a trip to the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, or Israel. And don’t forget, we can always create a multi-country itinerary to get you where you want to go with ease.
United Arab Emirates
The toast of the Middle East in 2020 will certainly be Dubai. The cosmopolitan hub is holding its its Expo from October 2020 to April 2021. It’s an international amalgamation of food, technology, music, and culture all in one architecturally-inspiring space. More than 200 restaurants and chefs will be whipping up some 50 different types of cuisines to suit international tastes. Every day one of the 190 participating countries will showcase their culture in special performances and festivities. The gleaming city of glass and steel is adding to its jaw-dropping repertoire of sky-high buildings with a whole new slew of cool structures around town, including the Expo’s fusion of new age buildings with traditional palm groves, jasmine trees, and wadi figs.
And if Dubai seems a bit too frenetic, you could always stay in its quieter (and no less glitzy) neighbor Abu Dhabi. Don’t miss the massive and memorable Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, built using inspiration from Turkey, Morocco, Pakistan, and Egypt. The result is a marvel that holds up to 40,000 worshipers and visitors.
Jordan
Jordan is a history buff’s dream, but it’s also got major appeal for travelers seeking outdoor adventure. Trek along the Jordan trail leading to the Red Sea, following along the Great Rift Valley’s rugged cliffs and breathtaking views. Along the way you will find archaeological sites relating to Jordan’s deep history and religious links like the 12th century Ajloun Castle-a site that witnessed the Crusades. Or take a blast into the future in Wadi Rum’s martian-looking domes at Sun City Camp. You will feel like you have blasted off into space when night descends, blanketing you with a stellar display of twinkling stars.
Israel
Tel Aviv is enjoying a moment in the spotlight with its tasty food scene and Jerusalem’s heaving with history. Injecting an extra dose of bliss, the top of our list for Middle East 2020 travel is the Negev Desert’s Arava Valley, where a soothing spa experience awaits in the new Six Senses Shaharut. Villas camouflage into the rocky terrain, enveloping you in the calming surroundings. Take your pick between the treatment rooms, sauna, and Hammam. Wind down from the day with a relaxing glass of wine as the sun sets over the spellbinding landscape.
