In the land of ancient ruins it's unexpected and exciting to have a brush with the ultramodern. New Hotel proves that Athens doesn’t just hold the treasures of the past, it has a vision for the now.

Representing fresh vision, cutting-edge design, and an overall sensibility of all things young and fashion-forward, the New Hotel is truly, in every way new. Expect something more original and exciting than merely clean lines and bright whites. Owner Dakis Jouannou worked with Brazilian interior design duo Fernando and Humberto Campana to recycle the material from the hotel’s previous incarnation into something fresh and inventive.

The common areas of the hotel reflect not only the genius of the Campanas, but the collaborative art of local students. With their help chairs, stairs, and other hardware were transformed into furniture and fixtures that are as much art as they are utilities.

Each of the 79 rooms speaks to the quirky shapes and textures of the hotel, but with a more restrained palette to allow for rest and relaxation. Modern sensibilities are reflected in the modern amenities—wireless Internet access and iPod docks around found throughout, and robes and slippers are always at the ready. The hotel’s Syntagma location affords a brilliant view from the Penthouse suite. Perhaps the most exciting space in the hotel is New Taste, the hotel’s modern Mediterranean restaurant. Inspired by their iconic home favela, the Campanas shaped the salvage from the previous hotel into an energetic, warm space. This setting eagerly encourages everything from intimate conversations leaning in over candlelight, to raucous evenings of laughter and libation.

Art Lounge, on the 7^th floor of the hotel is a rooftop lounge with an emphasis on fine art and panoramic views. A full menu of innovative spa treatments match the hotel’s forward thinking aesthetic and Mediterranean vibe. A “hot shell” massage and “jet lag aromatic therapy” are tailored to the experiences of the hotel, beyond simple relaxation.
