Property Details

At Mpala Jena, guests will choose from four tented rooms for up to eight guests all nestled within a private concession of the Zambezi National Park. Travelers with children can opt for the two bedroom suite, perfect for a child’s first foray into the African wilderness. Each tent overlooks the shoreline of the wide Zambezi River and the entire luxury property is on raised decking.

Inside each space, flowing canopy ceilings provide an airy atmosphere while Moroccan style influences add a further touch of the exotic. Feel immersed and inspired by the stories and journeys of days gone by as you sit at the desk to jot down notes about your experience at Mpala Jena.

Lounge on the deck and take a dip in the private plunge pool to cool off after an exhilarating day on safari. Freshen up in the en-suite bath, fitted with double basin sinks, a bathtub, and shower.

Conservation is key at Mpala Jena, which is part of the Great Plains Foundation. Sustainable practices are of the utmost priority to ensure preservation of this precious wilderness. Mpala Jena is using recycled hardwoods and canvas, while the electricity will be generated from their solar farm.

The camp’s name comes from the spring that runs through the concession and attracts a lively group of wildlife year-round. White albino impalas pop against the greenery. Elephants and buffalo drink water from the river while hippos splash around. They can all be seen during a boat ride out on the Zambezi, one of the oldest rivers in the world. Birds dance and sing in the air. Head out on an early morning game viewing adventure in an open 4×4 vehicle all set with drinks and snacks. For an up-close look at the wildlife, set out on a guided walk to see elegant giraffes stretch their necks high into the leafy trees. Zimbabwe is a nature lover’s delight.

Just a short jaunt away are the majestic Victoria Falls. Water is an important source of life here and there are many water related activities available, depending on the season. At night the sky comes alive with a bright show of sparkling stars, twinkling down on this remote and private wilderness.
