Property Details
Casa Gangotena comprises three stories and just 31 rooms, all of which have been meticulously restored to combine the best of the historic and the contemporary. The feel of the family home it once was has not been lost, with beautiful details found in the Art Deco and Art Nouveau architecture, beloved antiques and furnishings, and little comforts found at every turn. Rooms vary in size and layout, but all feature stunning high ceilings and tall windows. Generous bathrooms are appointed with gleaming white marble to echo the beauty of the spaces, and with views onto the plaza available on select rooms, the charm of Quito is counted among the many amenities.
Ecuadorian flavors from all over the country are celebrated at the contemporary restaurant, mingling with international options and exceptional service. A beautiful ceiling mural by Ecuadorian artist Lucía Falconí enhances the space with a flash of color and provides a feast for the senses to complement the feast on the menu. Hearty soups are served in traditional clay terrines and local fish, meats, and produce are the stars of this culinary show. Sample irresistible Ecuadorian chocolates, coffees, and teas at all hours, particularly during the high tea served daily in the glassed-in patio. A wood-paneled library delves into the history of the hotel as a home and of Quito itself, but the best way to see the city is from the third-floor terrace. Guests can easily discover the city at ground level too, as Old Town, the Presidential Palace, and many of Quito’s famous sites are within mere minutes from the gracious hotel.
