The Hotel Santa Lucía is located in a building originally constructed by the first governor of the province, Don Manuel Vega Davila, in 1859. After quietly witnessing the history of southern Ecuador for more than a hundred years, the building underwent a two-and-a-half year long restoration process and now serves as a prime example of the architectural style of nineteenth century Ecuador.
