Property Details
The legendary Belmond Royal Scotsman experience begins before you even step onto the train. At the Edinburgh Waverly station, a piper dressed in a kilt pipes you aboard where you are met with a flute of champagne. Settle into your cabin before joining the fellow passengers in the Observation Car. From its bucket chairs and sofas, watch the Scottish countryside go by through wide windows, or make your way to the small deck on the back of the car to watch from there.
The interiors of the Belmond Royal Scotsman are reminiscent of an Edwardian country house. Marquetry panels line the walls of the cabins, each a luxurious retreat after a day spent exploring the Highlands. Plush lower berth beds are fitted with soft wools and tartan, and lined with green tufted leather. A dressing table, and a fully equipped en suite add to the iconic Royal Scotsman legacy. Each cabin also features large windows for gazing out at the splendid Highlands views as you travel on the rails.
Dining on the Belmond Royal Scotsman is an extravagant affair featuring tables set with white tablecloths, Elkington silver, and china. The two dining cars are lined in mahogany panels. An acclaimed menu features rich game, seasonal seafood, wild salmon, and the best produce from Scotland paired with a selection of fine wines, liqueurs, and malt whiskies. Cuisine celebrates Scottish fare with dishes like classic kedgeree, steamed Scottish mussels, spiced roast halibut, and pigeon salad making their way on the menu.
During the day, enjoy excursions to castles and whisky distilleries. Go fly-fishing, clay-pigeon shooting, or tee off at a championship golf course. You may also choose to simply stay aboard the train and relax or enjoy a spa treatment in the Bamford Haybarn Spa carriage, one of the most unique spas in Scotland. Two treatment rooms are a haven of tranquility with a curated menu of all-natural therapies to pamper both your body and mind.
