With the clock ticking on a potential Brexit, currently expected to occur on March 29th, 2019, a lot of questions have arisen surrounding the United Kingdom’s split from the European Union and how it will impact visitors.
Ker & Downey has some helpful hints on how you can still travel to the UK, even under its current uncertain political climate.
How might Brexit affect flights?
The EU and UK have already agreed that the rules around flights will not change for at least two years. This means there won’t be any Brexit-related disruptions to your already planned getaway, or any potential trips you are hoping to schedule before 2021.
How does this affect travel visas and passport validity?
Existing rules surrounding visas, passport validity, and entry to the UK will not change. Currently, US citizens don’t need a visa for visits less than 90 days, and passports must have at least six months of validity remaining for travel to the UK.
Can we expect any protests that may affect our travel schedule?
Peaceful protests could be possible in London leading up to the planned Brexit date, but we don’t expect anything disruptive. The rural regions (specifically the Scottish Highlands and the Lake District) do not anticipate any activity.
What parts of the UK do you suggest visiting?
We have so many wonderful options for a journey to Scotland, Wales, and England.
City sights are enjoyed on our UK Family Holiday itinerary, exploring exciting London and quiet kayaking in the Welsh countryside. For a slower pace, try our Charms of England journey, visiting Sir Winston Churchill’s birthplace at Blenheim Palace. Stroll through Scotland’s capital Edinburgh, just one of the stops in our multi-country British Isles: High Flying Highlights experience. Hike the rugged highlands, rewarding yourself with a private whiskey tasting after on our Luxury England & Scotland Adventure.
While the United Kingdom and the European Union may face challenges ahead, we are happy to announce that Brexit will not affect US travelers wishing to explore all that the United Kingdom has to offer.
