Chongwe River House in Zambia is a stunning private safari home designed by renowned architect Neil Rocher to mimic an animal’s riverbank lair. Tree trunks, mud, and soft river rocks grow almost organically from the ground to create a series of open living spaces overlooking the beautiful Chongwe River. To complete the symphony of natural elements, the sitting room features furniture carved from a single fallen winterthorn tree and a ceiling covered in colored river pebbles, bringing the the river indoors.

The epitome of peaceful, the Chongwe River House boasts four bedrooms spread across two floors, each with its own private outdoor sitting area looking onto the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers and the dramatic Zambezi escarpment. Each bedroom also has an accompanying en-suite bathroom, specially designed to allow bathers to immerse themselves in the African wilderness. Charming waterfall showers on the top floor echo the waterfalls along the river, while the rainfall showers on the lower floor offer a complete luxury-in-the-bush experience.
