Property Details
Toka Leya Camp in Livingstone Victoria Falls, Zambia is a collection of just 12 tents, each connected by elevated platforms that wind through the entire facility, limiting the impact on the indigenous plant life and landscape. Four-poster beds, billowing white curtains, earthy tones, and subtle African accents define the accommodations at Toka Leya. Each raised tent also features large en-suite stone bathrooms and interior climate control for a touch of comfort and exclusivity, as well as expansive private decks almost as big as the interiors, looking out toward the rushing waters of the Zambezi. Three family tents include an extra bedroom with twin bed, perfect for younger travelers.
An ancient baobab tree is the centerpiece of the Toka Leya main lodge, a generous canvas-topped structure that includes an open-plan dining area and bar. Here, guests can dine on freshly baked pizzas straight out of the pizza oven, lounge in the infinity swimming pool overlooking the Zambezi, or sit by the riverside fire pit to watch the activity each evening. Vervet monkeys are a fixture at Toka Leya and can often be found playing in the jackalberry and waterknob trees to the delight of guests.
Perhaps the apex of any stay at Toka Leya Camp is a visit to the thundering Victoria Falls, one of the most famous World Heritage Sites. As for game viewing, guests merely have to lounge on their decks to hear the birdlife, trumpeting elephants, and yawning hippos footsteps away in the rivers. Treks to Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park will net sightings of zebra, buffalo, wildebeest, and more, while a visit to the Simonga Village will introduce guests to a project focused on education and community enhancement with the help of tourism revenue from the Wilderness Safaris Wildlife Trust. Helicopter flights, sunset river cruises, nature walks and white water rafting excursions are also possible at additional charge.
