This magnificent region of Zambia and the spectacle of nature’s raw power can be witnessed and experienced at the lodges of Royal Chundu. On nine miles of private waterway along the banks of the Zambezi River, and just a short drive from the magnificent Victoria Falls, Royal Chundu provides guests the opportunity to explore the surrounding area and falls as the David Livingstone did 150 years ago.
The two luxurious lodges of Royal Chundu, the River Lodge and the Island Lodge, sit on the convergence of Zambia and Zimbabwe between Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls. At the main River Lodge, 10 spacious riverfront suites look out onto the Zambezi, with private decks offering spectacular views. Or, choose to stay at Royal Chundu’s other accommodation, the exclusive Island Lodge on Katamura Island. Guests take a short boat ride from the main lodge before arriving at this remote and tranquil oasis. Four villas with private decks, open-air bathrooms with glass-walled showers, and luxurious, large beds provide a restful haven along the Zambezi River .
The Zambezi River breathes life into the region with a wealth of activities. Guests can try their hand at canoeing or fly fishing along the river banks. Or, take a relaxing sunset cruise keeping an eye peeled for hippos, crocodiles, African fish eagles, egrets, and herons. Another opportunity to scout the region is offered via a mokoro ride to a nearby village. A private guide provides an introduction to the local customs and traditions while also allowing guests ample time to explore and interact with the village residents.
Guests of Royal Chundu dine on traditional Zambian dishes made from fresh, local ingredients in the intimate outdoor boma.
Royal Chundu is a family-friendly accommodation. The Children’s Club welcomes kids of all ages with scheduled daily programs.
