After taking time to find the perfect location for a Cape Town luxury hotel, hotelier Liz Biden fulfilled her 15-year dream with The Silo. View this video for a peek inside the hotel.
Emerging along the Cape Town skyline like a beacon, the Grain Silo opened in 1924. It was vital to the economic and agricultural growth of Cape Town and South Africa for close to 80 years. Converting this icon from a bastion of commercial significance to a retreat synonymous with beauty and vibrancy of the modern V&A Waterfront was no easy feat. Thomas Heatherwick of London-based Heatherwick Studio was up to the task. The Silo offers guests the choice of 28 suites and a lavish penthouse.
Bespoke furnishings, gleaming finishes, and unique homey comforts enhance the hotel’s modern blend of gritty industrial and polished refinement. Views from the magnificent 18-foot windows present a stunning panorama of Robben Island, Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill, and the glittering ocean beyond.
The Silo in Cape Town is in stylish company, positioned above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). The modern museum makes use of the 42 grain silos and the lower portion of the grain elevator. The Silo coexists with the Zeitz MOCAA to offer guests a culturally enriching stay in the heart of the Waterfront. The hotel is surrounded by galleries, restaurants and cafes, bars and clubs, and the best shopping in Africa. Visitors to The Silo South Africa luxury hotel will never want for choices in activities and entertainment. Discover this luxury hotel in Cape Town, South Africa for yourself!
