Property Details

Hotel Esencia is located between Tulum and Playa del Carmen on an elegant 50-acre estate. The mansion, once a place for nobility, is guided by this notion of ultimate comfort and luxury. There are footpaths from the main house leading to 29 suites and villas, each boasting privacy and making guests feel like they are alone on a secluded island.

Each room has a private terrace and sitting area, offering views of the garden, pool, or the Caribbean. Crisp, white walls and hardwood furnishings let the colors of the tropical surroundings stand out. The Garden Suite includes a terrace plunge pool and rain shower. The Pool Villa is hidden among the foliage and feels like an intimate beach bungalow with multiple terraces, a media room, hammocks to snooze in, and a full-size swimming pool.

After taking a refreshing dip, nibble on some aperitifs at the Pool Restaurant. Walk to the heart of the palm garden where the Garden Restaurant serves simple and sophisticated meals like fish ceviche and fresh guacamole, celebrating Mexico’s eclectic regional cuisines, combined with Mediterranean flavors. Meals are prepared with produce grown in the property’s garden, or sourced from local farmers. Moles are brought in from Oaxaca and wines from Baja. Days are spent lounging by the beach or splashing in the clear, turquoise waters. Between swims, cool off with a cold-pressed drink at the Juice Bar by the beach.

The sea and the Mayan jungles are the sources for the ingredients used in the spa treatments, massages, and facials. Located under a palapa roof, the spa also features Jacuzzis and steam rooms.

A few steps into the sea takes you into the underwater world of a reef sanctuary brimming with turtles and exotic fish. Horseback ride along the waves to a quiet cenote or visit the Mayan ruins at Tulum. There are many adventures to be had before retreating back to your private paradise at Hotel Esencia.
