The award winning Beniya Mukayu is nestled among a wild garden of Red Pine, Cherry, Maple and Camellia Trees in the Yakushiyama and Yamashiro Onsen mountains. The quiet and blissful natural surroundings of this ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn, makes the perfect backdrop for a relaxing experience.
The 17-room open-plan design of Beniya Mukayu accentuates the beautiful landscape allowing natural light to flow through. Every room features an open-air hot spring bath. Eight are Japanese style, two Western-style and six are a combination of both aesthetics. The Japanese Premier Tatami Garden View rooms have a private terrace and hammock.
Dine on seasonal regional dishes like sea urchin and grilled bamboo shoots served on local pottery or lacquerware and sip on sake and wines. Dinner and breakfast is enjoyed on the terrace of the Beniya Mukayu’s private garden where you can also participate in a morning yoga class to awaken your five senses.
Guests have exclusive use of the indoor and outdoor hot spring baths and saunas and are draped in Japanese robes and slippers after a soak in the healing waters.
Customized aromatherapy, massages, facials and healing treatments are available at the spa. Hot spring water is mixed with herbs derived from ginger and oranges for a relaxing treatment believed to have a number of positive effects on the body and mind. Beniya Mukayu is located in the Healing Buddha’s Mountain where for thousands of years local monks have been using the hot spring baths for healing.
Visit the many sacred temples in the local mountains. The Yakuo-in Temple was founded to protect the hot-springs. Paper making lessons, udon noodle classes or visit a tea factory are all available for you to experience in the nearby region.
Closer to home, Mukayu’s owner shares Japan’s most commonly drank beverage with guests in a green tea ceremony. Food lovers can learn the basic techniques of Japanese cuisine at an on-site cooking class and guests can learn to wear a kimono, the traditional Japanese garment with hotel staff.
The Beniya Mukayu is a rejuvenating and tranquil place where you can relax among cherry blossoms and fresh mountain breezes while taking in the culture of this beautiful region of Japan.Request Information
