Tierra Chiloe was designed by Chilean architect Patricio Browne to honor the traditional Chilote style, as evident in the larch wood shingles, Cypress wood interiors, sea shell gravel, and, of course, the hotel’s defining concrete stilts, a reference to the local stilted fishermen’s “palafitos” houses. Upon arrival, the combination of traditional Chiloé craftsmanship and modern design is an astonishing addition to the natural landscape and is only augmented by the immediate serving of Tierra Chiloé’s signature Pisco Sours—often touted by guests as some of the finest in the country. All 12 guestrooms are oversized and personalized, furnished with local woolen textiles, traditional reed handicrafts, and hand-knitted slippers.
