Originally a Portuguese-colonial residence, this classic hotel is the image of lazy days lounging on a veranda or beneath sub-tropical palms. A natural paradise created by the constant spray of the cascading waters offers a magnificent lush environment surrounded by tropical gardens and unique wildlife such as the toucan and giant butterflies. Guests of the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas are also offered thrills and excitement in abundance: white water rafting, helicopter trips over the gorge, and jungle treks.

There are 193 rooms and suites in total at the hotel, including Standard Rooms, Superior Rooms, Deluxe Rooms and Suites. The rooms are decorated in a Portuguese style featuring paintings of the local flora and fauna by the Brazilian artist Ludmilla de Montes. They also feature traditional Azulejos “painted tiles”, designed exclusively for Belmond Hotel das Cataratas. Large bathrooms with twin vanity units and a bath with a shower are en suite, and each room has an extraordinary view, some complete with outside balcony.

Belmond Hotel das Cataratas features a large swimming pool and smaller children’s pool in the center of the property. There is also a full service spa on site, the Cataratas Spa, and it is open daily and offers a wide range of treatments inspired by the beauty and grandeur of the Amazon Rainforest. Belmond Hotel das Cataratas has two restaurants, the Ipê Grill alongside the pool and the Itaipu Restaurant which boasts an outside veranda.
