Casa Anna Garzon offers a peaceful retreat in Uruguay's picturesque Maldonado region. Vibrant gardens, beautiful views, and all the comforts of home await in this privileged destination.
Casa Anna, along with neighboring Hotel Garzon, were conceived by Francis Mallman, the celebrated Argentine architect and chef. These properties coexist with the town of Pueblo Garzon, a former stop along Uruguay’s early railway line. Garzon has transformed from a boomtown to a sleepy village in the last century: a perfectly quaint location.
Designed to emulate the style of low-built homes from the 1920s, accommodations within Casa Anna comprise five double-bedroom suites, called “casitas”, and one “dormatorio” with four single beds. This is a true home away from home, complete with a kitchen, dining room, and cozy lounge spaces. Stone floors and crisp white walls complement the local art, antiques, and colorful textiles found throughout. Each room includes an en-suite bath, air conditioning, and many modern comforts.
Meals at Casa Anna are prepared by Mallman’s expert team at Hotel Garzon and served family-style in the dining room. The home also features a media room and games room with table tennis. Outside in the colorful garden, attractive to hummingbirds and bird life, find a shimmering swimming pool and deck chairs made for lounging. At night the pool house can transform into a cinema. Alternatively, you may head to the observatory to watch the show put on by the stars through the 10″ Meade computerized telescope.
A private guide and yoga instructor are available to guests at Casa Anna, and the area around Garzon is a treasure trove of activity. It is not uncommon to share roads with local horses, sheep, and cattle while making your way around. Consider a horseback exploration through the countryside, passing the olive groves and vineyards, and keeping an eye out for the rare birds of the region. Farther afield, a day trip to nearby Jose Ignacio reveals some of Uruguay’s remarkable beaches.
Casa Anna can be booked exclusively, making it an attractive option for groups and families who are exploring Uruguay together.Request Information
