Ker & Downey Concierge and intrepid traveler Christine Guild has spent a lot of time in Costa Rica; she lived there for a year before joining the Ker & Downey team. She recently did some traveling around the familiar-to-her country to check out some of the beautiful Costa Rica luxury properties. Also on the agenda: soaking up some sun barefoot and exploring the country through adventurous excursions. We caught up with her after her trip to discuss the highlights of her Costa Rica luxury journey.
Where were you? The Pacific coastline in Costa Rica.
Highlight of the trip? An abundance of wildlife (toucans, sloths, four species of monkey, birds galore, sea turtles, frogs, and so much more) and fun tours such as surfing, yoga, horseback riding, mangrove safari boat tour, and hiking to waterfalls. There are also many other adventures that we did not do on this trip that I have experienced in Costa Rica before, including: canyoneering, zip-line, bungee jumping, white water rafting, volcano hikes, thermal rivers and hot springs, mud baths, ATV adventures, whale watching, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
Favorite Activity? Turtle hatch and release conservation program at Lapa Rios Lodge on the Osa Peninsula.
Don’t miss… the fresh fruit and seafood!
Anything else you want to add? Pack for the area you will be visiting: if you are on the coastline it will be hot; if you are going to the rain forest mountains pack light rain jackets, rain boots, and clothes for getting dirty. The best time to go is from mid-November to mid-December for lighter rains and a less-crowded beach on the Pacific Coast. October to September is the green/rainy season, but it’s also the prime time for wildlife including whale watching, sea turtle nesting, jaguars, and more. I highly recommend a combination of time spent between the rain forest and Pacific beach to catch the gorgeous sunsets into the ocean.
