Property Details

The essence of Forest Chem Chem is inspired by the Swahili word Kuungana which means “to connect.” Small and intimate, there are only two vintage tents and one family tent hosting up to six adults and two kids at any given time. The luxury camp is delicately painted in hues of gray, black, and soft yellow, meshing perfectly into the grassy landscape. Bright patterns and colors are found everywhere, from the vivid zebra stripes to the pops of pink and purple wild flowers. Eco-conscious travelers will take comfort in knowing that the camp runs on solar power.

Forest Chem Chem is nestled in the Burunge Wildlife Management Area. Elephants roam, giraffes wander, and lions and leopards prowl the landscape that is dotted with giant, ancient baobab trees. The area is a birding paradise, and bird lovers rejoice when seeing the sea of pink flamingos wading in the tranquil Lake Burunge. Its blue water splashes and parts as a hippo emerges from the depths.

Head out into the wilderness with a private guide for morning or evening game drives. Safaris at Forest Chem Chem take on a slower pace. The staff will equip you with bottles of water, dried fruit, and homemade biscuits to take along on a full day of exploring.

Climb a hill nearby and catch the sunrise that lights the sky up in a blaze of color. This is also the perfect spot to enjoy a breakfast with a view. Soar through the blue skies above in a hot air balloon. From far above, the buffaloes look small in this vast wilderness. Meet with the local communities to learn about their conservation efforts. The group of Chem Chem properties supports the education of school children and their efforts teach the importance of wildlife preservation.

Gather around a crackling fire to chat and cook with the other adventure-seekers. Glance up to see the twinkling stars glittering in the inky night sky as the day ends at Forest Chem Chem.
