Namiri Plains in Tanzania is located where the southern short grass plains meet the acacia woodland in the famed Serengeti. Shaded beneath the giant acacias, the luxury Serengeti tented camp comprises only ten large tents, tastefully furnished and spaced generously apart to ensure complete privacy.

The surrounding area was previously used for cheetah research and has been closed to tourists for over 20 years. Today it is said to hold one of east Africa’s highest cheetah densities and is considered one of the most reliable game viewing areas in the Serengeti.

Tents are equipped with en suite bathrooms with flush toilets, snug beds, solar power, a well-stocked bar, and 360-degree views of the surrounding wildlife-rich plains. From the comfort and safety of their beds, guests can witness lions take down their prey and listen to the cats roaring at sunset, calling guests to their slumber in the unrestrained wild. One honeymoon tent is ideal for those seeking a touch of additional African romance, while one family tent accommodates groups and families of up to four.

All meals at Namiri Plains are magnificently prepared and served at a common table with the few other guests. Guests may also enjoy sunrise bush breakfasts on top of Soit Le Motonyi rock and sundowners on top of a kopje. Given that the camp’s nearest neighbor is more than an hour away, it is not uncommon to feel a sense of ownership in this tented haven.
