Ker & Downey designer MJ Eraci recently took a trip to Namibia and combined it with a few days in Cape Town, South Africa. Of her stay in Namibia, she said, “Namibia is different than other destinations. You feel the wide open spaces, remoteness, and variety of landscapes like no place I have ever been. The people are warm and amazing.”
She is sharing the rest of her highlights from her trip to Namibia with us below.
Where were you? Namibia. I visited Windhoek; Etosha Naitonal Park/Ongava Reserve; Serra Cafema, who had the best staff and the area was beyond amazing; and the Skeleton Coast where we camped. I also stayed at Kulala and Sossus Under Canvas in Sossusvlei, and visited Hoanib Camp, Little Kulala, and The Nest.
After Namibia, I stayed a few nights in Cape Town and did a Cape Town food tour, which loved!
A highlight of the trip? Picking just one highlight from my trip is tough. I have MANY! Here are just a few: the sunrise at Serra Cafema; meeting and learning from Emsie Verwey who runs Skeleton Coast Brown Hyaena Project while camping at the Skeleton Coast; meeting Dr. Philip “Flip” Stander who runs the Desert Lion Conservation; sleeping under the stars while at Sossus Under Canvas; and my food tour in Cape Town.
Favorite Activity? I loved the quad biking at Serra Cafema and the fun sundowners I had at so many places, but especially on the beach in Angola.
Anything else you want to add? Don’t rush a trip here. Take extra time so you can fully embrace the area you are visiting, its people and culture, the landscapes that are like no other, and the wildlife.
