OmniPeace is a nonprofit organization with a mission to help individuals in Africa overcome extreme poverty through education. The OmniPeace Foundation builds schools to further that mission. To date, they have built nine primary schools and given more than 15,000 children access to education. Supporters include Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Costner, Liam Neeson, Rosario Dawson, David Beckham, Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, and many others.
Located in Kigali and at the Kiziba Refugee Camp, the two Rwanda Rocks! schools are equipped with a music center so that children can experience the power of self-expression through music. Founder and CEO Mary Fanaro was inspired to support communities in Africa after her first trip to Africa at age 21. Her efforts began by selling logoed t-shirts and her mission grew.
The foundation frequently partners with other nonprofit organizations to support their mission of mitigating the crisis of poverty through education and ongoing outreach. In 2009, OmniPeace launched the Stamp Out Violence Against Women and Girls of Congo initiative, supporting treatment and care for survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They have also met the needs of communities in Somalia, Senegal, Malawi, and Mali.
Ker & Downey is pleased to support OmniPeace Foundation in their efforts to improve lives through education. Clients traveling to Kigali can also visit the school and participate or lead a music class. We contribute custom journeys to their auction fundraisers, and our own Zach Jones serves on the OmniPeace Foundation board of directors. Click here to learn more about supporting OmniPeace.
