Muscat is the capital and largest city of Oman. It has been an important trading port since the early first century AD and leadership of the city itself has been traded off between numerous indigenous as well as foreign powers throughout history. The rocky landscape of the western Al Hajar Mountains dominates the area, which is located on the Arabian Sea.

In addition to numerous mosques and several large churches, there are also two Hindu temples in the city. Muscat is also home to a multitude of fascinating museums, and the Bait Al Falaj Fort is a spectacular sight.
