Central America
Seasonality & Pricing
Seasons in Central America are determined by the currents. While the tropical regions are always ready for visitors, the chilly Humbolt current brings cool weather in October. By March, the Panama current has warmed the region. Rains have become less predictable, and any oceanic disturbance, such as El Nino, will affect the climate.
Dry Season (mid-December to April):
- This period is characterized by sunny days, lower humidity, and minimal rainfall.
- It's the peak tourist season due to the generally pleasant weather conditions.
Green Season (May to November):
- Also known as the rainy season or wet season, this period sees more frequent rainfall, especially in the afternoons and evenings. However, mornings often remain sunny.
- The green season is characterized by lush vegetation and vibrant landscapes.
- September and October tend to be the rainiest months. Despite the rainfall, temperatures remain warm.

Regional
Considerations
Important considerations when traveling to Central America:
- The water on the Pacific Coasts is generally cooler with larger waves than the Caribbean coast.
- Northern and Southern Hemisphere Humpback Whales can be spotted off the Pacific coast almost year round as they pass through the region. July through October, however, is the prime migration season.
- Turtles are on view in Costa Rica year round, with most species nesting October through March.
- Leatherback turtles nest of the coast of Chiriquí in Panama during the summer months.
- May through July is the prime time for scuba diving in Belize. The waters are calm and clear, and the whale sharks can be seen pursuing the spawning snapper along the coast.
- Charter flights are available in Costa Rica and Panama and helicopter transfers are on offer in Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize to ensure seamless multi-country combinations.
