Each year, a team travels from the United States to the rural communities in Africa for a medical mission. Ker & Downey supports the team and Ker & Downey’s President David Marek and his wife Gana often make the trip each year to assist. Together, the group helps doctors and nurses check out patients and administer help where needed. They also hand out insecticide treated mosquito nets to protect against bites from malaria-carrying mosquitoes.

Every year, the trip is a huge success. Around 15,000 people are seen by doctors and around nine thousand mosquito nets are handed out. We’ve also seen such an outpouring of donations, that the team is able to provide funds for hernia surgeries and hysterectomies.

Nets for Africa - Kenya - Philanthropy Travel - Ker Downey

In year’s past, the team has traveled to the rural communities of Uganda. This year the team is heading to Kenya where the need for mosquito nets and medical care is just as great.

Malaria is still a major cause of death in children five years old and younger. But a simple treated net has the power to save lives.

Get Involved

Often times after clients return from a safari, they ask us how they can help. Ker & Downey’s Nets for Africa campaign is a great place to start. You have the power to do more when you donate to Nets for Africa because Ker & Downey matches your tax-deductible donation dollar for dollar. In addition to matching donations, 100% of your donations goes towards paying for mosquito nets, medicines, and surgeries. There are no administrative costs taken out. Ever.

Together we can do more. Help us take the sting out of mosquito bites.

This year’s team is traveling to Kenya in September, but Ker & Downey’s Nets for Africa campaign is an on-going, year-round project. For more information, contact Ker & Downey.
