When is the Best Time to Travel to Albania and the Balkans?
- The region’s mild climates are truly made for year-round travel, and Ker & Downey is your guide to the highlights of each season.
- The most beautiful weather occurs throughout most of the region from late May through late September, making the summer a very popular time to travel. Croatia’s islands are also full of festivals in June. Therefore, expect higher costs especially between June and September.
- While the summer can be very hot in the cities, private yacht charters and inland excursions to the region's many lakes and waterfalls promise a reprieve from the heat (and the crowds).
- For wine, olive, mushroom, and truffle harvest seasons, consider traveling during the autumn months, between September and November. This shoulder season avoids most of the crowds and promises varying temperatures, from cooler experiences in Slovenia, to still-warm beach weather in Croatia, Montenegro, and Albania through mid-October. Please note, however, most Adriatic yacht charters are not possible after from late October onward, due to unreliable sailing conditions.
