Itinerary Description:

Balance the ancient and modern in Beijing, enjoying exclusive access to sites within Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, plus a visit to the Great Wall escorted by a local scholar. Buddhist history and art comes to life with a visit to the Yungang Grottoes, a celebrated UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will also visit the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the oldest and highest wood structure in the country, on your way to the provincial Taiyun in the Shanxi province.

Historic Pingyao is the next destination, and from the updated courtyard confines of Jing's Residence you will explore the city's UNESCO-recognized ancient city walls, temples, and former government buildings. Meet a local family to learn paper cutting, an art that has been ingrained in Chinese culture for generations.

Xi'an and the army of Terracotta Warriors are next, with an exclusive spot in the lower viewing gallery of this legendary archaeological discovery reserved just for you. Witness wonders from the Jin and Northern Wei Dynasties in Luoyang, including the famous sculptures of the Longmen Grottoes.
