Booking a trip

How far in advance should I book a small group tour?

Our small group tours host a limited number of travelers, so we recommend booking as soon as you can. Please note that Ker & Downey cannot hold space in our small group tours without an advance payment.

How do I book a small group tour?

If you have reviewed the tour information and are ready to book, please fill out our small group tour form. Ker & Downey will then connect you with your departure manager to assist you in booking your desired tour.

Can I make pre- and post-tour arrangements?

Yes, you can make pre- and post-tour arrangements. Your departure manager will be able to assist you with booking these arrangements after you have secured your spot on your desired small group tour. While you cannot alter your small group tour in any way, your departure manager will ensure your pre- and post-tour arrangements combine seamlessly with the prescheduled arrangements.

What’s included in a Ker & Downey Small Group Tour?

We strive to take the guesswork and worry out of travel and therefore include as much as possible in each of our small group tours. However, because of the individualized nature of each small group tour, they each will have their own set of inclusions and exclusions which can be found on each small group tour’s specific information page.

Prior to departure, Ker & Downey will deliver your comprehensive final documents straight to your smartphone. Our final documents provide flight updates and a day-by-day overview of your itinerary backed by our 15-point checklist.

What is a Ker & Downey small group tour?

With no more than 16 people per trip, Ker & Downey’s small group tours are a great way to meet like-minded people who love traveling just as much as you do. We’ve translated our signature level of service and customization into each tour, so you can take comfort in knowing that each detail has already been well-thought-out. Indeed, the small group sizes allow us to highlight our favorite boutique properties as well as secure our most exclusive experiences, coveted reservations, and behind-the-scenes access around the world. Rest assured: you will not find yourself crammed on a tour bus or fighting a crowd of 50 to hear the guide speaking! Instead, you will have a dedicated Ker & Downey host who travels with the group.

Your Ker & Downey Host will depend on your desired destination and tour. Our Ker & Downey Hosts are not only experts in the region you are traveling to; they also know the ins out outs of your itinerary and are there to ensure every part of your journey is seamless. From your initial inquiry to your safe return, your Ker & Downey Host is with you every step of the way. Whether that means overseeing your transportation and check-ins, optimizing your sightseeing schedule, connecting you to local experts and guides, fielding your concerns or questions, or simply sharing their love for the destination – they are there to deliver the trip of a lifetime.

What makes traveling with Ker & Downey unique?

With Ker & Downey, no two small group tours are alike. They do, however, all share a few things in common. First, we offer VIP airport assistance wherever available. This can include meeting at the aircraft door, arrivals lounge access, immigration and customs fast-track, and luggage. During your trip, you also have 24-hour direct access to our partners on the ground should you need any assistance. Additionally, you have access to an emergency contact number that rings directly to a Ker & Downey team member in our US-based office. Air Travel

Can Ker & Downey make our air arrangements?

Yes! Our full-service in-house air department offers competitive rates and provides in-depth knowledge of the best flight itineraries, so you can spend more time exploring and less time in the air or at airports.

Can I use my frequent flyer miles?

Yes, you are welcome to book your flights on your own using frequent flyer miles.

Insurance

Do you offer travel insurance?

Yes, we offer travel insurance to US residents through Allianz. Your departure manager will send you a quote at the time of confirmation. Ker & Downey requires travel insurance for all our small group tours. However, you are not required to book the policy with us if you have a preferred provider in mind. However, our local partners may require proof of insurance, so we may need to request policy details or proof of purchase from you. Identification & Vaccination Requirements

What identification should I bring on my trip?

You will always need to carry identification with you on a Ker & Downey small group tour. Requirements will vary depending on the destination, but a good rule of thumb is to make sure your passport has at least six months’ validity. You can find specific details under each small group tour departure page.

Do I need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination?

This is dependent on the destination you are traveling to. Many countries require either proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test taken within a few days of arrival. Please consult the Centers for Disease Control Travelers’ Health pages for specific requirements.

What other vaccination or health requirements do I need to know about?

Many destinations we travel to require proof of yellow fever vaccination. Your departure manager will advise you of this at the time of booking. Additionally, you should consult the Centers for Disease Control Travelers’ Health pages for country-specific requirements and seek advice from your doctor or a travel medicine specialist on other precautions you should take such as malaria prophylaxis.

Age Restrictions and Single Travelers

How old do you have to be to join a small group tour?

Family travel is extremely important to us; however, our small group tours are tailored to people ages 18 and older. Should you wish to travel with children under 18, we can work with you to tailor a private journey to the destination you are interested in.

Are single travelers allowed on small group tours?

Single travelers are welcome on any of our group tours. Prices listed in each departure are per person sharing a room. A single supplement may apply should you wish to have your own room.

Cancellations – Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have to cancel?

You can cancel at any time prior to departure. Ker & Downey offers flexible booking and cancellation policies, but any cancellation may result in penalty fees that increase closer to the date of departure. Please consult the specific Terms & Conditions for your trip for more details.

What if the tour is canceled?

Ker & Downey’s small group tours will only operate if the minimum number of travelers is met. This varies depending on each departure. In the event that a tour does not reach its minimum number of travelers, each confirmed passenger will receive their full deposit back 30 days after the designated closing date. Can I book a private small group tour?
