More Details

First, your luxury Sri Lanka private tour begins outside Colombo. A two-hour drive from the airport, Jetwing Sama Villas sits between two unspoiled beaches.

Enjoy a choice of gorgeously appointed rooms and sprawling gardens set against the backdrop of the ocean. After a leisurely arrival day, the hotel will treat you to a delicious welcome dinner.

Then, travel further south to the historic port city Galle. En route you will visit a turtle hatchery, which protects newly born sea turtles.

Finally, you will arrive in Galle for a private tour of the Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a local travel guide. Explore the many places of worship, schools, post office, lighthouse, clock tower, and other interesting buildings that make up the ancient ruins of the fort. Meanwhile, learn about the lives of the Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims, Burghers, and Malays who call it home.

Galle Fort’s quaint streets also offer some of the island’s most rewarding urban strolls. Pass by the many historic buildings, little boutiques, and gelato shops that flank the fort’s cobbled streets. Additionally, the coral and limestone ramparts promise a hive of activity. At day’s end, impromptu cricket games break out and people from all walks of life converge to watch the sunset.

Next, your luxury Sri Lanka private tour continues in Tangalle on the south coast of the island. On the way, visit the hidden beaches of Hiriketiya to see the stilt fishermen.

You will eventually check in to your beach villa at Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort. Here, the palm lined beaches overlook the wild coast of the Indian Ocean. Enjoy two nights at leisure taking advantage of the beach and luxury resort amenities. Between April and December, Tangalle offers exceptional whale watching.

Then transfer onward to Yala National Park for your wildlife safari experience. Safaris in Yala National Park take place in a private jeep with a resident naturalist.

Located in the southeastern part of the island, Yala boasts a variety of wildlife species. For example, it houses the highest density of leopards in the world. Additionally, elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, deer, and a wide array of bird species make their home here.

Enjoy evening sundowners after a day on safari. Then retreat to your luxury boutique hotel, Chena Huts, sprawled across seven acres of scrubland edged by the sea. Chena Huts comprises just fourteen luxurious cabins, set apart from each other and shaded by trees. Indeed, each building is in the style of a local village house, with a palm-thatched roof and artfully mottled walls.

From Yala National Park, you will travel onward to Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka's hill country. Board the scenic two-hour train ride from Eliya to Kandy, then enjoy a private Kandy city tour through the colorful market. You will have the opportunity to observe daily life and the vibrant atmosphere of a traditional market in the city, part of Sri Lanka's cultural triangle.

Finally, conclude the day with a night food walk with a local foody. Your host will regale you with stories about Kandy while you indulge in Sri Lankan cuisine on the walk.

After an overnight at Jetwing Kandy Gallery in town, transfer outside the city for a peaceful two-night stay at Santani Wellness. Beforehand, however, you will have the chance to visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth on a morning tour.

Once at Santani, embark on a river walk through the estate with the resident naturalist. Say hello to tea planters harvesting in tea plantations and observe the local flora and fauna.

During your stay, you will also have plenty of time for spa treatments. And visit the Werapitiya Hanging Bridge on a scenic walk through a typical Sri Lankan village. Pass terraced paddy fields, mud houses, and spice gardens abundant with birds and butterflies. Indeed, the naturally created pools in the river offer a great place for an authentic Sri Lankan river bath.

Finally, conclude your luxury Sri Lanka private tour back in Colombo. En route, visit the Millennium Elephant Freedom Foundation to spend some time with the gentle giants.

Eventually you will set out on a private city tour of Sri Lanka's capital city of Colombo. Highlights include Colombo Fort, the busy Pettah market, the Dutch Hospital shopping district, the old Fort, and the Galle Face Green.

Enjoy a final farewell dinner and an overnight stay at Uga Residence, a lavish 11-suite boutique hotel. Nestled between the shady Park Street and the tranquil lakeside Buddhist temple of Gangarama. The temple offers a perfect place to relax ahead of your departing flight onward.
