The Ibiti Project

Nature and nurture meld harmoniously at the Reserva do Ibitipoca. Escape to an outstanding area blessed with waterfalls, peaks, ridges, caves, and natural pools.

Property Details

The Ibiti Project borders the fragile Ibitipoca State Park, an area that has been the focus of decades-long conservation efforts. Reforestation programs in former pasture lands and the reintroduction of native species are both invaluable projects undertaken here since 1981. Eco-conscious travelers will be drawn to the The Ibiti Project’s commitment to bettering local lives through job creation and promoting sustainable tourism. On top of these efforts, the lodge gets back to basics with its core values of reduce, reuse, and recycle. Their reverence for their surroundings enhances the already beautiful biodiversity of the area.

Rooms and Suites

Surrounded by green space, a renovated 1715 mansion features eight suites decked out with local traditional handicrafts and king sized beds swathed in Egyptian cotton bedding. Families and small groups find a private retreat in the restored farmhouse. Another small house neighbors a sparkling stream and lake, and the Mountain Houses are great for guests wanting the ultimate in seclusion and an opportunity to connect with nature. Though the wilds of nature are at every turn, no comfort is overlooked in each abode. Warm up with a heated towel and floor after a soak in the Victorian bath. Goodies like L’Occitane bath amenities and Havaianas sandals also await to pamper travelers.

Farm-to-Table

The wine cellar features a wonderful selection to pair with regional, seasonal cuisine using yams, okra, bananas, and pork. Hear stories from the cooks who learned how to prepare food as children stirring pots for their mothers. Some 27 different fruits and vegetables are grown in the on-site garden and greenhouse. Guests can even go and pluck their own produce for the day’s meal. In the mornings, start the day with warm corn or cheese bread, farm-fresh eggs, strong coffee, and fresh milk from local goats and cows. Dinner is an event to remember, under the billions of stars twinkling in the night sky.

Unstructured Exploration

Exploring Ibitipoca is an unhurried and unstructured experience. Walk and bike around the reserve, or climb atop a Mangalara horse for a tour with a taller view. Learn about over 140 orchid varieties from one of the expert guides as you hike to local waterfalls. An old barn has been transformed into a spa and treatments include herbs, plants, and oils found on the reserve.

Between the nature activities and relaxing accommodations, you will leave the tranquility of Ibitipoca in a better physical and mental state than when you arrived.
