The Kenya walking safari begins at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The conservancy lies in the Laikipia region, home to the Big Five and a haven for the threatened black rhino. You’ll get acquainted with the East African landscape with game drives through the wilderness, home to an astounding amount of elephant, lion and giraffe.
After your introduction to the Laikipia region, you’re Kenya walking safari really kicks off with five days at Tumaren Camp, a revolutionary walking safari outpost. It’s a permanent base camp from which to explore the Laikipia region of Kenya.
Each morning at Tumaren Camp begins with a hearty breakfast before setting out on a morning trek with a camel caravan and a team of Samburu guides and trackers. You’ll traverse through areas unreachable by game vehicles, giving you a unique and intimate view of the African bush. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself at the next campsite, where a lunch served al fresco in the shade of a tree is waiting to welcome you. Finish off the day with sundowners in some of the most scenic spots.
Conclude your Kenya walking safari in the famed Masai Mara, with your time split between Naboisho Camp and private fly camping in the wilderness. It’s a truly memorable safari experience that harkens back to the days of the first safari pioneers with luxury tents and fireside dinners beneath the vast African sky.
