More Details

Your Botswana vacation first begins in Johannesburg, South Africa. Upon arrival, transfer to The Saxon for an overnight stay. This is a calm, comfortable starting point before your safari flights the following day. Then, settle in, enjoy dinner, and rest.

Next, fly into the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and continue to Dinaka to begin your African safari experience. This region feels vast and quiet, and it rewards travelers who want wide horizons and rare sightings.

During game drives, look for giraffe, wildebeest, springbok, and brown hyena. In addition, the area features several unique Kalahari predators, including desert-adapted lions. Meanwhile, guided walks reveal tracks, plants, and smaller species that are easy to miss from a vehicle.

As evening arrives, head out to search for nocturnal wildlife. Also, when conditions allow, sleep out under the stars for a simple, scenic night in the Kalahari. This portion of the trip sets the tone for a true luxury safari Botswana route focused on space and wildlife.

Then, continue to Moremi Game Reserve for three nights of safari adventures at Okuti. Moremi combines open floodplains, waterways, and forest edges, and therefore boasts great game viewing.

On game drives, watch for elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard. Also, keep an eye out for wild dog if you are lucky. Between drives, relax at camp and enjoy the steady rhythm of safari days.

Moremi offers an ideal stop on any Botswana safari because of its protected status and well-managed ecosystem. It therefore remains a strong choice for travelers seeking eco-luxury lodges and camps in protected or private reserves.

Finally, fly into the Okavango Delta and check in at Kanana. A highly recommended stop on any Botswana vacation, the Okavango offers both land and water activities.

Start with early game drives across the plains. Then, glide through channels by mokoro when water levels allow. Afterward, take a motorboat ride for a faster view of the Delta’s lagoons and wildlife along the banks. Birding is also excellent here, especially around the waterways.

For a completely different perspective, take a scenic helicopter flight over the Delta (additional cost). Indeed, it offers a great way to see how the waterways shape this ecosystem. After these final nights, transfer by light aircraft back to Maun for onward travel.
