Does a safari sound like a nice way to start your September? On this itinerary, two of southern Africa’s most beautiful natural wonders are yours to explore: the Okavango Delta region and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Victoria Falls & Botswana Jaunt
After a refreshing overnight in Johannesburg, your journey begins in Victoria Falls. From the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, enjoy a privately guided tour of the Zimbabwe side of the falls, followed by a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. It’s a magical welcome to Africa!
Botswana is next, where you will spend two nights at Linyanti Bush Camp. This small, intimate tented camp overlooks the banks of the Linyanti marshes bordering the western boundary of the Chobe National Park. Take game drives in the company of expert professional guides, night drives with a spot-light, and walking safaris in the area. There are excellent hides for bird watching, and you can also explore the Linyanti marshes in a mokoro canoe. The area is best known for its large populations of Elephant and buffalo that congregate in vast numbers especially during the dry season. Lion, sable, roan, leopard, wild dog, and a number of the plains game can also be enjoyed at Linyanti.
The Okavango Delta is the next stop on your safari adventure. The spectacle begins immediately as you drive across the floodplains and through the rivers to the camp. You are likely to see a variety of game, from the semi aquatic antelope known as the lechwe to the playful and humorous warthog. The private camp at Footsteps Across the Delta is located on the edge of a beautiful lagoon where the ever present and highly vocal hippos wallow. Each tent is shaded by magnificent evergreen trees including African ebony and magosteen. Both lions and wild dogs are often seen in the area and the variety of plains game includes kudu, tssebe, zebra, and impala. Spend your next two days at in one of the great, untamed regions of Africa, the spectacular Okavango Delta, and experience the astonishing contrasts created when the mighty Okavango River flows into the arid Kalahari Desert. Leisurely game activities, mokoro canoe rides, and walking safaris will fill your last days in Botswana.
