Ker & Downey’s eight-day luxury culinary tour of Japan is a delicious treat for your taste buds.
If Japan isn’t on your list as a foodie travel destination, it should be! Tokyo boasts more Michelin stars than any other city and Osaka is one of the world’s foremost foodie havens.
Ker & Downey’s eight-day culinary tour of Japan is an indulgent voyage for your taste buds exploring the delicious world of Japanese cuisine. It’s jam-packed with excursions, tours, and private cooking lessons that explore Japan’s distinct culinary flavors.
You’ll visit a depachika – an underground food basement that features a wide array food items like freshly baked breads, fried dumplings delicatessen items, snacks, and treats. Just about everything you could imagine can be bought here.
In Tokyo you’ll also take a look at the art of sushi making by trying your hand at making a few tasty pieces. A seasoned chef guides you through the steps to create two different kinds – nigiri and roll. After the lesson, you’ll get to taste your creations and see how your sushi compares to the sushi your chef prepared.
You’ll take a trip to Tsukiji Outer Market, Japan’s “Food Town” and largest wholesale fish market, tour a soy sauce factory, visit a sake brewery shop, and have a private sushi and tempura cooking lesson in a local Kyoto home. Spend time exploring the Kuromon-Ichiba Market (“Osaka’s Kitchen”) and Dotonbori in Osaka, then head to the nearby town of Kobe to stroll through the town’s Nankinmachi Chinatown and taste the world-renowned Kobe beef.
Each stop along the journey will have your mouth watering so be sure to pack your appetite!
