After arriving in Belize City, a Ker & Downey representative will meet you and show you to a private vehicle for the 20-minute road transfer to Cucumber Beach Marina, where you will board your Caribbean yacht charter. Your all-inclusive family friendly "floating hotel" features luxurious air-conditioned cabins, en suite facilities, a state-of-the-art entertainment system, and expansive indoor/outdoor dining and lounging areas, complete with a skipper to raise the sails and a personal chef to cook your catch.
After a welcome orientation and safety briefing, you will sail to Colson Cayes, a collection of mangrove islands with a couple of small sandy inlets, attracting dolphins, manatees, and a wide array of birds. Spend hours snorkeling in the reef, one of the healthiest coral reef ecosystems in Belize.
The following day, enjoy a relaxing sail to Tobacco Caye, a tiny 5-acre postcard-perfect island perched on the barrier reef, surrounded by azure waters and magnificent corals. Featuring a couple of small, laid-back rustic cabana resorts, a barefoot beach bar serving fresh coconut water and icy rum cocktails, and the resident thirty local islanders who call this rock their home, it is the quintessential experience of remote Belizean island life. Swim, paddleboard, kayak, or explore the island before dining on deck under the stars.
Next on your Belize family vacation, meander up the mangrove-lined Sittee River to Hopkins Village. Hopkins is an authentic coastal fishing village in southern Belize known for its rich Garifuna culture. While here, meet with a local family and learn about their traditions. It all culminates with an interactive drumming lesson.
Later, enjoy a night-time river safari to see the bioluminescent algae in Anderson Lagoon.
The following day, your Caribbean yacht charter will transport you to Hideaway Caye. Surrounded by some of the most impressive coral heads in the country, this hidden collection of mangrove islands boasts incredible marine life. It therefore makes for a great snorkel day.
Your family sailing vacation then continues on the white sand beaches of Placencia. Upon arrival, venture to the village of Mayan King, named for the two cascading falls. Travel through rows of orange trees and bamboo shoots along the mountain to this waterfall. Launch yourself off the rocky cliff, and enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool below. Or, wade amongst the rocks while your guide finds the perfect picnic spot.
Next, journey to one of Belize's most exclusive islands, South Water Caye. Black Groupers, Grunts, Moray Eels, Parrotfish, and Snappers hide out in the overhangs. Don your masks and fins and set out into the clear, glass-like water. If you're lucky, you'll see an Eagle Ray as it drifts idly by.
Conclude your Belize family vacation at Rendezvous Caye. Residents include the friendly caretaker Pedro, the only person living on the island, cormorants, ospreys, pelicans, sandpipers, and magnificent soaring frigates. A snorkeling expedition around the island brings you face to face with eagle rays, stingrays, rainbow parrotfish, French angelfish, and even green turtles. Celebrate the conclusion of your sailing vacation with dinner on deck under a blanket of stars, feeling a million miles away from the rest of the world.
