Itinerary Description:

Begin your Brazilian horseback riding holiday in Coxilha Rica to meet your gauchos and criollo horses. After a delicious dinner, socialize at the bar and enjoy a delightful spectacle of local gauchos performing music and folklore of the region - the perfect way to inspire the sense of gaucho freedom for your journey ahead.

The next six days of your Brazil horseback riding holdiay are spent riding through the rugged Coxilha Rica landscape. Climb and descend, trot and canter, crossing rivers and passing waterfalls to arrive at incredible panoramic vistas of the area. The entire land feels intimately yours, with gauchos leading you on improvised routes to working fazendas, homes of real gaucho families. While each fazenda is different from the next, all are authentic, colonial, and cozy, promising soft beds and reliable showers at the end of each day of riding. Plentiful home cooked meals produced from large country kitchens make for a true “locals” experience at each stop. The women of the homes are known to spoil gaucho riders with hearty breakfasts and sumptuous lunches of regional favorites such as churrasco, hard boiled quail eggs, and fish caught from the ponds on the grounds of their abodes.

You will eventually arrive at Rancho Amigo, where you will spend a day seeing the gauchos in action. Give these South American cowboys a helping hand by driving the cattle herd to the corral and learn the tricks of the trade to roping. After an active cowboy-gaucho day, pull off your boots, take a shower, and join the group at the table for a refreshing meal and a cool beer or a warm Pingao, the local rum.

It is then time to return toward Florianópolis on your horse. Upon arrival, check back into Ponta dos Ganchos Resort for three days of pampering and relaxation. This area is known for its gorgeous beaches, where some of the best surfing and outdoor sports in Brazil can be had. Not to be missed is the historic town center where you can find wonderful examples of colonial architecture, offering a picturesque backdrop to your relaxing post-gaucho beach vacation.
