The 10 contemporary suites are set over two floors of the historic Marlborough Lodge. Choose from a range of elegant luxury suites and rooms, each decked in calming tones of whites and blues to make for a restful retreat. Overhead find crafted beams preserved from the former convent. A look out of the windows offers scenic views of the sprawling gardens and its oasis of flora and fauna.
The manicured lawns lead to a lake where birds frequently stop for a rest and a drink. Elsewhere on the grounds, the vegetable garden has fruits, berries, tomatoes, and free range chickens that lay eggs featured at breakfast. Join the head gardener daily for a tour to learn about the trees here and finish the peaceful wander with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, made from grapes also grown on the property’s vineyard.
Delicious local cuisine is a staple of The Marlborough Lodge menu. Roasted prawns or lamb with zucchini, eggplant, and goat cheese are enjoyed in the dining room and paired with local wines. Explore your inner chef at a cooking class and learn about the fresh food options here, or join the chefs on a foraging excursion on the lodge estate to find ingredients for the day’s meal.
Take a few laps around the heated pool or play a little tennis on one of the six grass courts at the club that was founded in the 19th century. The Marlborough region is known for its natural beauty. Swim with dolphins, walk on the nearby beach, or go whale watching on a private boat. Bike through the pretty vineyards surrounded by the mountains to see how some of the world’s best wines are created. In the nearby town of Blenheim, meander through the shops or stop to have a bite in one of the cafes or restaurants. You can also hit the green at the Marlborough Golf Club, one of the oldest in New Zealand.
