Stanley's Camp is situated on a 260,000 acre private concession, thus affording guests absolute exclusivity. The area is home to a wide variety of big game including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog.
Accommodations at Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp consist of eight classic style safari tents. The delicately appointed tents exude classic Africa with handcrafted beds dressed with the finest linen, individually-selected antique furnishings, and oriental carpets that transport you to early nineteenth-century Africa. Each unit offers en suite facilities and a private veranda. Hammocks and Morris chairs on the veranda are perfect for relaxation in the African sunshine. The main building is raised on decking and offers expansive views over the surrounding floodplains.
Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp is carefully blended into the existing tree line, and its main support is a large sausage tree. Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp offers some of the best game viewing in the Okavango Delta, including the rare and elusive wild dog. Other activities available at Stanley’s Camp include serene mokoro canoe excursions (seasonal based on the water levels) and exclusive bush dinners. Take game drives in customized, open-sided 4 x 4 vehicles, and enjoy the rare opportunity for night drives. Due to the fact that Stanley’s Camp is in a private concession, guests also have the exclusive option of walking safaris with an armed professional guide.
Guests of Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp can also experience an unforgettable elephant activity. On this unique and low-impact learning adventure, visitors accompany the semi-habituated herd on daily foraging treks. Immersed in elephant life, warm bonds of kinship grow from a newly found appreciation of these gentle giants. (Please note that no riding is offered.) The main objective is to initiate a relationship between the guests and elephants. The activity encompasses a leisurely paced walk with a trio of semi-habituated elephants, becoming personally acquainted with them, observing, and interacting with them, followed by a picnic lunch in their company. You are invited to discover the elephants, from the bristled ends of their long tails to the tip of their powerful yet sensitive trunks. Marvel at their big ears, thoughtful eyes and enormous padded feet. Trace the textures of their skin and the silken polish of their ivory. Explore the astonishing bonds of kinship forged over more than a decade between the elephants and their guardians in a wilderness of mesmerizing beauty.
In April 2018, the Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp will be reborn with 10 brand new luxury canvas tents, each with a compact gym, yoga mat, and minibar. A new central tent and outdoor bar area will also be added with spectacular views of the wildlife-rich floodplains. Sustainability is at the forefront at this camp with a new solar farm generating 80 percent of the electricity.Request Information
