Property Details

Arrive at El Bordo de Las Lanzas to a personal welcome by the estate’s owners, the Arias family. The charming, traditional estate’s nine comfortable and luxurious guest rooms house huge beds, vaulted ceilings, open fireplaces, and an important collection of furniture, woodcarvings, and religious paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as archaeological remains, valuable books, and centenarian documents. The main house of the estate is the “sala,” highlighted by its thick walls, sturdy beautiful ironwork, and colonial doors leading to tropical yet refreshing verandas with panoramic views of the park surrounding the estancia, a great example of how both local and exotic subtropical plants can grow in harmony.

Spend time at the estancia participating in a variety of activities unique to a working estate. Begin days with a simple breakfast of breads and homemade jams before taking a ride on an authentic Peruvian Paso horse with real Argentine gauchos through the expansive fields of sugarcane into beautiful reserves of storks, alligators, and many other animals from the north. Return for a three-course lunch out on the terrace and a game of polo in the gardens against the crop fields of soya, maize, wheat, sunflower, and quinoa. Help gauchos with chores around the estate, relax with afternoon tea, and enjoy cooking classes with the resident chef prior to a four-course evening dinner in the stunning silver-covered dining room or an exciting barbecue outside. All meals are served with local wines and fresh squeezed juices, a treat to any visitor to northern Argentina.

Only 45 minutes outside of Salta City, El Bordo de Las Lanzas is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Humahuaca Gorge, Salinas Grandes Salt Flats, and nearby National Parks. Guests are welcome to watch folklore and dance shows prepared and presented by the Children’s and Youngsters’ Ballet of El Bordo, as well as gaucho horsemanship exhibitions put on by gauchos in the Campo Santo Fortín.
