At Ker & Downey, we believe that people matter. It’s the people who make up this incredible company who work to make your journey truly memorable. Over the course of the last year, we’ve been introducing you to the people that make up Ker & Downey. You can also read more about us here.
Stephanie Click is a Kentucky girl turned Texan! She graduated in 1997 from Murray State University with a degree in Public Relations. She’s spent the past 10 years working as a blogger and social media producer for corporations looking to influence the female marketplace, as well as in communications for some of Houston’s largest megachurches. Stephanie’s favorite vacation spots are Ireland and Grenada, and has added Africa to her “must-do” list! After work, she enjoys being a band and dance mom; scrapbooking; and watching reality tv shows.
Favorite place you’ve traveled: My husband and I honeymooned in Grenada. I loved the lush landscape and the tropical feel. The people were so friendly. We loved the culture and history of the island. I can’t wait to visit again someday.
Favorite city and why: I love New York. I love the hustle and bustle of the city. The cool restaurants and unique shops are so fun. But above all, I love Broadway and all of the shows.
What is the best thing about traveling: I enjoy getting to see new places and experience new things. There’s nothing better than seeing an image from a book or a scene from a movie in real life.
Travel accessory you can’t live without? Without a doubt, my camera. I take thousands of pictures every year.
Favorite plane ride activity: Listening to Spotify, playing Sudoku, and reading SkyMall.
Two weeks + and unlimited budget, where are you going? Africa – hands down! Working at Ker & Downey has moved this destination to the tip-top of my list.
Beach or mountains: Beach. I love the sun and the sand. Relaxing on the beach with the sound of the waves in the background is my bliss.
How do you take your coffee? Still in the pot. Not a coffee drinker. I do love a good cup of tea (lots of sugar) or hot chocolate.
If they could bottle your personality what would the label read? Determined, funny, clever, one-size-fits-all, wash in warm (no bleach).
My theme song is: Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell
If I were a super hero, I would be: Elastigirl from the Incredibles. Not because of my freakish flexibility, but because I feel like our lives are a mirror of one another.
Two things I can’t live without are: Coke and reality TV. I’m a junkie for both. (After my husband and kids, of course.)
It’s Sunday morning at 10 a.m. If I’m not sleeping, I’m: frantically trying to get people ready for church. We’re surely running late.
My favorite physical activity is: Walking the parks at Disney World
One thing I love that everyone else dislikes is: Fried chicken livers. It must be the Kentucky girl in me. And, I can fry up a batch that is out of this world!
The first thing I do when I wake up is: Check my email.
One thing people are surprised to find out about me is: I am connected – very randomly – to several famous people, and I have A LOT of crazy experiences regarding them.
The last concert I went to was: One Direction, before that it was Justin Bieber. Does that say “mom” or what?
My favorite TV show to watch as a kid was: The Brady Bunch. I was an only child and desperately wanted more siblings. I lived life vicariously through the Brady’s!
If I could instantly learn a new language, I would learn: Spanish. Living in Houston, it would be such an advantage!
Guilty TV pleasure: You name it, I’m watching it. I absolutely love TV and have a DVR full of shows. My favorites are Modern Family, Pretty Little Liars, Mistresses, Dance Moms, Kim of Queens and Hollywood Hillbillies. If I could only watch one show for the rest of my life, it would be Designing Women. I even tried to name my daughter Suzanne, but my husband veto’d it. (She turned out just like Suzanne anyway, so I guess I won afterall.)
On my nightstand: I’m trying to get started in The Fault in Our Stars, but I keep getting too distracted by my TV shows.
What’s inspiring you lately? My family. My husband works full-time, then goes to area high schools every night to teach music to kids. My daughter takes 4-5 hours of dance lessons every day after school. My son is taking all PreAP classes and managing to get all A’s during soccer season and band lessons. No one complains and we all cheer each other on. It makes my heart happy and proud, and inspires me to be my best “me” for each of them.
Life mantra in four words: More ideas than time.
Favorite quote: “It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it’s summer in the light, and winter in the shade.” Great Expectations
