Ker & Downey’s luxury Alaska adventure is an exclusive journey exploring Alaska’s treasures – local art, wildlife conservation areas, and abounding nature.
North America’s “last frontier,” Alaska is a wildland of epic proportions—a place where grizzlies congregate at the salmon-filled rivers, moose frequently stop downtown traffic, glaciers and their deep valley imprints seem to appear around every bend, and outdoor adventure is never more than a stone’s throw (or private helicopter ride) away.
Alaska Adventure: Wild Frontiers is Ker & Downey’s exclusive luxury Alaska adventure and an in-depth study of some of Alaska’s finest treasures, from local artists and wildlife conservation areas to luxury backcountry lodges and abounding nature, untouched and unbelievable.
Ker & Downey’s luxury Alaska adventure kicks off in Anchorage at the city’s most renowned hotel, Hotel Captain Cook, whose historic prestige and Old World explorer atmosphere, paired with its towering panoramic views of the surrounding Chugach Mountains and Cook Inlet offer a flawless first taste of Alaska.
Spend time with two of Alaska’ leading wildlife artists, Jon and Jona Van Zyle, before departing on a private flight-seeing transfer to the historic Iditarod Trail, pausing en route to admire the grandeur of Denali, the highest mountain peak in North America.
The lakeside beauty of Winterlake Lodge serves as the base for surrounding adventure, including fly-casting lessons on Finger Lake, day-long helicopter tours through the expansive Alaskan mountain-meets-fjord landscape, heli-trekking to nearby glaciers, and guided hikes along the famed Iditarod Trail, home of the last great race on earth.
The next stop on this luxury Alaska adventure is Tutka Bay Lodge, Winterlake Lodge’s sister property situated in the remote reaches of Kachemak Bay State Park. A private floatplane transfer will soar through the glaciers of Lake Clark National Park and the captivating Kenai Coast before eventually arriving at the rustic, romantic, and fjord-facing accommodations of Tutka Bay. Just like Winterlake, fresh Alaskan cuisine, daily complimentary massages, hands-on cooking classes, guided forest, water, and glacier excursions, and pre-dinner wine and cheese tastings are all a part of the exclusive Tutka Bay experience.
Capping it all off is an unbelievable bear-viewing daytrip, which flies above the Alaskan Peninsula coastline to the Katmai Coast, home to one of the world’s largest concentrations of brown bears. Walk along their trails, sit on their riverbanks, and observe them as they go about their day-to-day life, all without barriers or viewing platforms. This is the Alaskan wilderness, as many have never seen it.
Ker & Downey’s luxury Alaska adventure concludes just outside of Anchorage at Girdwood’s celebrated Alyeska Resort. Characterized by its grand chateau façade and its distinctly Japanese-turned-Native American interior, this indulgent resort is surrounded by a breathtaking expanse of mountain peaks, hanging glaciers, and ocean views.
These final days are full of fascinating wildlife encounters at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and intimate moments with the tumbling waterfalls and tidewater glaciers of Prince William Sound during a private glacier cruise. On the final evening, embark on a scenic Aerial Tram ride to the top of Mt. Alyeska, where a farewell dinner at the world-class Seven Glaciers Restaurant—so named for its seven-glacier view—offers the perfect finale toast to the beauty and bounty of Alaska.
