Jennifer Sottile has been traveling since she was three months old. Born and raised in Rome, she splits her time between Italy and Washington and has traveled the world. She is a Gold Ireland Specialist, certified by Tourism Ireland, and is one of our European specialists. She is passionate about helping others see the beautiful cities of Europe.
Favorite place you’ve traveled: Ireland and Scotland
Favorite city and why: Rome. Apart from the fact that it is my home town, as you walk through the streets of Rome you encounter history. Every single street, every single building, and every single monument describes a real fact that happened centuries ago. Everyday day brings a new story.
What is the best thing about traveling: Getting to experience new cultures, meet new people and eat amazing food.
Travel accessory you can’t live without? My hair straightener and my music.
Favorite plane ride activity: Having a toddler makes it so hard to go to the movies so I watch them on the plane.
Top of my travel bucket list: I would love to go to Peru and climb Machu Picchu.
Two weeks + and unlimited budget, where are you going? I would love to take my family and discover South America. Go to the Panama Canal, Galapagos Islands and an adventure out on the Amazon.
Beach or mountains: Beach
How do you take your coffee? Black, black, black
If they could bottle your personality what would the label read? Fun, outgoing, determined, happy and adventurous with a mind of my own
My theme song is: “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift
Any pets? Not yet, but I would love a dog.
If I were a super hero, I would be: I already am…Super Mom
Something I said I’d never do but did anyway was: Live on an island in the Pacific Northwest
Two things I can’t live without are: Nico (my son) and bread and cheese. Yup, I am a true Italian.
It’s Sunday morning at 10 a.m. If I’m not sleeping, I’m: At church or at home playing with trains and dinosaurs with my son.
My favorite physical activity is: Going to the gym, tennis and adventuring outside.
One thing I love that everyone else dislikes is: Escargot. Trust me, they are AMAZING.
The first thing I do when I wake up is: Press snooze on my phone, then kiss my son.
One thing people are surprised to find out about me is: That I am not American. I was born and raised in Rome and moved to the states only 2 years ago. My mother is American and my father is Italian. It is so funny that people think I am lying when I tell them that English is not my first language. Being bi-lingual does have its perks though
The last concert I went to was: The Beach Boys. Yes, I am 28 but I love the Beach Boys
My favorite toy to play with as a kid was: Baby Boo Boo. It is a baby that you constantly have to take care of. It a doll they had in Italy. I also Dr. Seuss books and movies.
If I could instantly learn a new language, I would learn: French
Guilty TV pleasure: Grey’s Anatomy, Bones and Castle
On my nightstand (what you’re reading now): Thomas the Train. I read every night to my son
What’s inspiring you lately? That everyday is a new day and that there is always hope for something great if you truly believe in it.
Life mantra in four words: Eat, Pray, Love, Praise.
Favorite quote: “Just keep swimming.” – Dori from Finding Nemo.
