The end of the year is just around the corner. How do you want to finish off 2013? Maybe you want to travel to a new destination or start a new family tradition that includes a hand-crafted Ker & Downey journey. Recently we asked some of the sales team at Ker & Downey to share their travel experiences from this year with us and, to get in the holiday spirit, some of their special holiday traditions. Below Nicole talks about her journey to Italy, Turkey, and the Caucasus this year and her family’s holiday traditions.
This year I visited Italy and Turkey in the spring, and experienced Ker & Downey’s new Grand Caucasus itinerary, traveling to Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. The incredible amount of history and culture in these places never fails to impress. In Italy, I explored the southern part of the country, focusing on the archaeology of the Amalfi Coast and Calabria. Staying in Taksim Square in Istanbul, one of my favorite cities, I was introduced to a chic area full of wonderful restaurants and shops. Last but not least, I was thrilled to discover the rich culinary and wine traditions in Georgia and the Caucasus.
As I look ahead to the rest of 2013 I can’t help but think about the upcoming holiday season. In the past I’ve been lucky enough to experience Thanksgiving on the Nile, Christmas in Nairobi and New Years in Sydney. Being able to share my own family’s holiday traditions with the people I’ve met on these occasions has left me with many wonderful memories and stories.
Nicole’s love of travel began with her father’s family educational “road trips” across America. The bug for travel only intensified, and Nicole answered the call with her explorations to Africa, Southeast Asia, Central and South America, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. Nicole says her most remarkable memories have been the views from atop Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Uluru in Australia.
