Mchenja Bush Camp
Set beneath a grove of ebony trees along the Luangwa River, this camp takes luxury to a level not previously seen in the Zambian bush. Five stylish and spacious tents under thatched roofs feature indoor baths, and a beautiful pool along the bar in the main "chitenje" provide guests the utmost comfort. This is the perfect choice for embarking on a walking safari from one camp to the next!
Property Details
Mchenja, meaning “the ebony tree”, is set beneath a magnificent grove of these trees on the banks of the Luangwa river. One of four elegant bush camps in Zambia, this property carries the Norman Carr legacy. The founder of the walking safari, it was Norman’s dream to bring authentic African experiences to guests. Intimacy, privacy, and complete solitude are what you will find here at Mchenja. The South Luangwa National Park experience is extremely unhurried and void of the throngs of tourists and game vehicles found in other African destinations.
Although this camp takes luxury in the bush to a level not previously seen in Zambia, it is designed to combine excellently with other more rustic bushcamps for that quintessential Zambian walking safari experience.
Mchenja is the perfect destination to complete a walking safari that has combined stays at a number of our camps. Contact your Ker & Downey travel expert for more information on how to maximize your experience in Zambia.
