Resting peacefully on the banks of the Zambezi River, under a grove of evergreen Mahogany trees, Chiawa Camp holds the prime position in the heart of Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park. It is here where David Livingstone ventured nearly 150 years previously, where the Cumings Family in 1989 created the very first photo safari operation in the Lower Zambezi National Park and what has since become one of Africa’s most desirable, sought-after safari destinations.
Chiawa Camp sits on the Zambezi River, blending in with its picturesque surroundings. Nestled among the bush and the river, guests get the best of both safari worlds. Guests will appreciate the Chiawa staff and guides – among some of the finest and most knowledgeable of the Lower Zambezi National Park.
There are a number of activities to enjoy while at the camp, including game drives, bush walks, canoe trips, gaming by boat or fishing, including the popular tiger-fishing. An inviting plunge pool overlooks the famed Zambezi. A mix of African and European dishes are made with fresh, authentic ingredients. Some of the finest cuisine Africa has to offer is plentiful at Chiawa – enjoy breakfast, brunch or lunch buffet-style or extravagant four-course nightly dinners. Guests can enjoy their meals in the bush, on a boat or next to a campfire by the river while the Chiawa Camp choir sings.
A collection of nine safari tents can accommodate 16 individual guests, or 18 if exclusively booked for a group. Each tent has its own private pathway and offers an amazing view. Relax on the comfortable private deck of your tent and enjoy the splendor of the Zambezi River or the Zambezi itself. Every tent has a king-size bed, Egyptian cotton sheets, en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers and nostalgic claw bathtubs.Get More Information
