Sanbona
As part of the Mantis Collection, Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is a luxury hideaway located at the foot of the Warmwaterberg, in the heart of the Little Karoo. Over 133,000 acres of undulating mountains and plains, indigenous fauna and flora, rock formations and rock art make this a destination not to be missed. Sanbona's pledge to preserving the rare, white lion is at its core. It is the only destination in the world where these magnificent animals roam free.

Magnificent views, panoramic landscapes and towering cliffs, streams and the abundance of trees and indigenous flora, all contribute to making the Breede River Valley one of the Western Cape’s most diverse regions. The ever-changing colors of the majestic mountains, scenic passes, rivers, vineyards and orchards as well as the multitude of attractions, will offer you an unforgettable adventure, whether this is in the physical sense or simply a kaleidoscope of scenic experiences.
Three separate accommodations at Sanbona define luxury in the Little Karoo – Tilney Manor, Gondwana Lodge and Dwyka Tented Lodge.
Tilney Manor has six luxuriously appointed rooms. This exclusivity ensures that guests can experience personal service and world-class cuisine in an atmosphere of privacy and tranquility. Comfortable lounges with fireplaces for winter nights, private verandas, romantic freestanding baths and carefully sheltered outdoor showers are just a few of the pleasures that guests can enjoy. More modern comforts include air-conditioning, satellite television, private bars and tea and coffee making facilities. A fully-equipped spa offers guests the opportunity to recover from the rigors of the outside world and restore their sense of inner harmony. This is the perfect environment for rediscovering creativity and regenerating energy. Cape Georgian decor draws on the natural colors of the surrounding stone and vegetation, with subtle touches of San culture influencing the design throughout the guest rooms and conference facility.
Gondwana Lodge is the ideal retreat for families. A collection of 12 spacious rooms and suites provided splendid views over the plains of Bellair Dam and the Anysberg Mountains. Air conditioning and underfloor heating ensure constant comfort in the abodes. Gondwana resembles a typical Karoo thatched family home and the common areas include a large family room, children’s activity room, outdoor play area and pool. The Kids On Safari program encourages children of all ages to enjoy their holiday by paticipating in outdoor sports, cultural walks, creating scrapbooks and complimentary educational activity books to cherish.
Dwyka Tented Lodge, a secluded village of luxury tents, is located on land that was once a hunting range for the ancient Khoisan peoples. The dramatic surround features a horseshoe-shaped dry ravine and impressive rock formations, many with evidence of the ancient tribes that once roamed the Karoo. Nine tents offer sublime luxury among this scenery, each with its own private deck and refreshing plunge pool. Embark on an expedition to the main lodge’s wine cellar, sample local and international fare next to the fireplace in the main dining room and relax under the stars in the open-air Boma.
