Property Details

Situated in verdant bush along the Bushmans River, halfway between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, Shamwari is the realization of one man's dream, and the success of many people's passion. Home to Virginia McKenna's Born Free Foundation, Shamwari designed an animal rehabilitation and education center and is committed to the conservation efforts of this outstanding organization. Steeped in settler history, and dating back to the time when a multitude of game roamed wild and free, the reserve boasts five eco-systems, supporting many forms of plant, animal and bird life.

Eagle's Crag Lodge

Each of the nine detached luxury suites have been built of glass and wood to maximize privacy. Features include a private deck with pool, indoor and outdoor showers and two glass walls which can be opened to enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding cliffs. The Lodge features a spa, dining room, lounge, bar, library and balconies.

Long Lee Manor

Fifteen rooms and three luxury suites are elegantly offered in the restored Edwardian Manor house of Long Lee Manor. Rooms feature air conditioning, hair dryers and tea and coffee making facilities. The Manor House hosts 2 swimming pools, a spa, curio shop and outdoor dining in the original barn.

Bayethe Tented Lodge

Each of the nine luxury thatched tents are air-conditioned and heated and have an en-suite bathroom, shower, private plunge pool and viewing deck. The lodge offers indoor and outdoor dining on the deck or boma, a gift shop and the Bayethe Bush Spa.

Bushman's River Lodge

Bushman's River Lodge is a beautifully restored Victorian homestead offering four special luxury rooms. The lodge is cozy and intimate offering a swimming pool and lounge with bar plus indoor and outdoor dining options.

Lobengula Lodge

Five spacious African thatched roof rooms are individually decorated and have air-conditioning. One premiere suite boasts a large private lounge with fireplace and pool. Lobengula Lodge serves lavish meals either on the main deck or in the outside boma and hosts a spa, swimming pool, boutique and wine cellar.

Riverdene

A restored settler era lodge, Riverdene's nine luxury suites are air-conditioned and feature private patios which lead onto the landscaped gardens. The lodge offers two elegantly furnished casual lounges and a glorious sunroom, as well as a magnificent rim flow swimming pool and indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Sarili Lodge

A new enterprise yet to be opened soon, Sarili Lodge will be exclusively for families offering five luxury suites with a child friendly pool, children's menu, children's den and a barbeque area.
